According to my sources this record is the first 45T from Olivier de Coque, a famous Nigerian guitarist of Igbo origin. He launched his career in 1976 with this record, before bringing out an album with the same name in 1977 with his band ìThe Expo 76 (They have recorded around 76 albums !). he invented the "Ogene" style, a kind of hybrid of Highlife, traditional Igbo songs and
Congolese music. The guitar playing in this style is not unlike the Congolese style and in fact it was Piccolo, a Zairean guitarist working in Nigeria who was one of his professors, whom we can also hear on the guitar on Prince Nico Mbarga mythical album "Sweet Mother". He died last year at the age of 61.- R.I.P.
( The title on the B side is "Mbanene ayi ekene" but it seems that there ís just "Messiah, messiah"
on both sides, I ve included both)
